About Us

Jordan Baptist Church was founded in the year 2012 in the month of July by a few families who came to Waterloo from other states to find a job at Tyson pork meat company. We began gathering and worshiping at the apartment two weeks at a time. After the Next more months, we have more families who move to Waterloo for the job. All of us were refugee people from Burma, Thailand, and Malaysia.

When we have more people come to Waterloo from other states and some direct from Refugee camps, we started to think to find the Church’s building for worship. In the year 2013 the end of the month, we found Waterloo First United Methodist Church to use their Church’s space for worship through our sister Angela Graham introduced us to WFUMC Pastor and his congregation. Very soon, we can be gathered inside the Church’s building.

At that time, we didn’t have our own Pastor yet. We just gathered and worship together same as we lived in Burma and Thailand. In 2014-2015, we sent Mrs. Nae Lae Si to go Bible Seminary in St Paul, MN. Our plan and hope for her to lead us to Jordan Church. Even though she hasn’t gone to Seminary school yet, she already has enthusiastically to serve God and Church. She graduated in 2016 and continues to help our Church as a Pastoral with Mr. Lah Khu who came from Michigan State. But, later in 2017, Mr. Lah Khu resettled forward to Austin, MN. Due to, our Church needing one more male leader who leads the Church, we began to head meetings and find a male Pastor. We also prayed to God every day to send us Male pastors.

Very soon, in 2017, we got the answer. In 2017 began in May Mr. Saw Moon Rock from St Paul, MN who graduated with a Bachelor of Theological College in Thailand, had to make the decision to come to serve at Waterloo Jordan Church. In 2019 the month of March, we started to register our Church name as Waterloo Jordan Baptist Church. Due to Covid-19 breaking out and our situation not going well as before, we started to find back new Church building. In 2021 the month of April, we came to worship with Grace Fellowship Church. We thank to GFC Pastor and the congregation welcome us to share the building together and supporting us.
